Our Mission
We started KOMqueror because we saw big problems with Strava's King of the Mountain (KOM) races. It's way too easy to cheat by tweaking your GPX files, and honestly, we think that's ridiculous. Our goal? Shift people's mindset from trying to beat everyone else to working on their own health and fitness.
Safety First
Chasing KOM titles isn't just risky for you; it can be dangerous for others, too. Imagine a mountain biker speeding down a crowded trail or a road cyclist blasting through traffic. It's unsafe. Competing against a faked result (or against far superior athletes) is not just unwise, it's hazardous.
How GPX Tweaking Works
Let's talk about how people cheat. A GPX file is just a list of coordinates, each with a timestamp. To fake faster speeds, someone (for example, us) might write a script that shortens the time gap between each point by a specific percentage. This modifies the 'speed' without messing up the route. A GPX file altered in such a way is pretty much impossible to spot (unless overdone), and unfortunately, it's more common than you think.
Rethink Your Goals
Why are you really competing? For a digital crown that might not even be real? Instead, use this Strava feature to compete against yourself for personal bests. Focus on genuine, lasting improvements in your fitness and health. Drop the race for worthless titles and concentrate on what truly enhances your life, while always staying safe.
